March 4 was a big day for local businessman and philanthropist Aner Iglesias.
That is the day the Latin Chamber of Commerce officially dedicated its building to him. And to top it off, Gov. Jim Gibbons commemorated the event by declaring it "Aner Iglesias Day."
Iglesias was instrumental in establishing the permanent headquarters of the Latin Chamber (located at 300 N. 13th Street in Las Vegas), donating a large sum of money in 2005 to pay off the chamber's mortgage.
"We are pleased to officially name the building after him," Latin Chamber President Otto Merida said. "His generous contribution means a great deal to us and to the Hispanic community of Las Vegas."
Iglesias, who immigrated from Cuba as a youth , is known for his King Ranch Market chain and his involvement in the Hispanic community. He invests in real estate in Nevada, California and Florida. Iglesias is an active member of the Latin Chamber of Commerce, several grocers organizations and has sat on the board of various charitable organizations in California and Nevada.
